Sashiko Workshop – Folded Basket

Sashiko Workshop – Folded Basket

Who doesn’t love a folded basket!? You can put stuff in it! You can gift it! You can make a few that nest and match. You can make big ones, you can make small ones. LOVE.

Join Christina of Fetch and Bloom Studio for this one day workshop where you will learn the basics of Sashiko Mending and create your own folded basket to keep or to gift!

Sashiko is a type of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching used for the decorative and/or functional reinforcement of cloth and clothing. Owing to the relatively cheap nature of white cotton thread and the abundant nature of cheap, indigo-dyed blue cloth in historical Japan, sashiko has a distinctive appearance of white-on-blue embroidery, though some decorative pieces may also use red thread but in this workshop you we’ll be offering all kinds of fun colours for you to choose from!

All Materials included!

$55

Option 1 – Thursday November 16th from 6pm – 9pm

Option 2 – Sunday November 19th from 10 – 1pm

Please note that there will be a minimum of 4 attendees required to run this class. In the event that we must cancel due to low registration, you will be fully reimbursed.

RESET Community Art Show

Vernissage: Saturday, March 18th 6-10 PM

Living through a pandemic has changed the way we live, work and engage with others.  It is for that reason, we call this show RESET.  An opportunity to re-envision and create a new way forward.

The purpose of this show is to explore new and innovative ways of making art, so that art can be purchased by more people and still profitable for Artists.

We've been listening to Artists and Clients over the last few months and discovered a few things.  One, Artists are having a harder time selling their artwork and two, Clients wanting to support Local Artists, are struggling to afford it.

The Artwork at the Reset Show is:

  • Square

  • 12"x12" or Smaller

  • $300 or Less

  • Funky, Cool & Unique

Sewing 101 : Introduction to Garment Sewing @ BHCraft Club

Join me at the Craft Club and pick up a whole new hobby this winter! In this 5 week course you will learn how to use a sewing machine, follow a basic sewing pattern and create your very own custom-sized simple boxy shirt while learning to sew from a pattern.

No experience is necessary and all materials and fabric will be provided (students who wish to work with a specific material will be responsible for providing that themselves). This class also includes access to our Monday evening open studio (6-9 pm) so you can come in and work on your project if you’d like.

Don’t have a sewing machine? No problem! The Beacon Hill Craft Club has several machines that can be used during this class on a first come-first served basis. Please make a note on your registration form that you would like to use one of our machines.

Invest in learning a skill you’ll be able to build on and use for years to come! Grab your tickets here

Mondays from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm
