Pyramus + Thisbe (Bloomfields)

As part of the Great Glebe Mythologies series, this is the tale of Pyramus & Thisbe, the original Romeo and Juliet story, except make it the man running away with the plant (that also happens to fit nicely into my ever-growing narrative of plants being the og earthlings/ancestors). 💚💚 And do we not fall utterly enchanted over the plant world and insist on bringing them indoors with us? It truly is one of the oldest love stories around. This could not have fallen into my lap as a storyline at a better time thanks to Bloomfields share and for them allowing me to paint this capture.

The setting is of course, none other than Bank Street, in the Glebe. A man in a crisp white shirt and a cream hat driving a 1950 convertible Chevy Belair and absconding away with a fiddle leaf fig tree.
